For the best of the Horror/Cult/Exploitation film experience
42nd Street Forever Volume 3: Exploitation Explosion (2007)

From
Synapse Films we get another installment of one of my favorite DVD
series in a long time, the 42nd Street Forever collection. This time
it's 42nd Street Forever Volume 3: Exploitation Explosion. When I
first picked it up and read the trailers on the back one thing came to
mind, they're really starting to run out of trailers for these types of
DVD's. But to be honest after actually watching the DVD, I felt
totally the opposite. This release is a goldmine of great trailers
from a lot of the lesser known films of the era. I've seen some of
them before on other compilations but the ones that I hadn't were a
total riot. Here's the complete listing of all of the trailers
included in Volume 3:
Sudden Death
The One Armed Executioner
Jaguar Lives
Enter the Ninja
Lighting Swords of Death
Five Fingers of Death
The Stranger and The Gunfighter
Beyond the Door
Demonoid
The Night Child
Devil Times Five
Patrick
Jennifer
Phase IV
Bug
The Uncanny
The Pack
Alligator
Killer Fish
Shark's Treasure
Blood Beach
Hot T-Shirts
Cheerleaders Wild Weekend
Summer School Teachers
Gorp
King Frat
Prision Girls
1000 Convicts and a Woman
The Penthouse
The House by the Lake
Night Call Nurses
The Young Nurses
The Life and Times of Xaviera Hollander
The Happy Hooker Goes Hollywood
Survive!
Guyana Cult of the Damned
Seven
Scorchy
Savage Streets
Convoy
High Ballin
From Noon til Three
Telefon
Lies
Tattoo
Now
if that isn't a healthy helping of some good old grindhouse glory I
don't know what is. The trailers are a wide range of the films that
you would expect and it delivers in areas where Volume 2 didn't. This
is actually a better release than that one was even if this has the
shortest running time out of the first three releases. Not only do you
get all that, but you have a commentary track that runs through all of
the trailers on the disc! The commentary features Fangoria Managing
Editor Michael Gingold, film historian Chris Paggiali, and AV Maniacs
editor Edwin Sanuelson.
Some of my favorites in this collection would have to be the
kidsplitation flick "Devil Times Five", the rape revenge film starring
Linda Blair in "Savage Streets", the excellent cult classic film
"Alligator", along with a whole host of nudie flicks, ripoff's, and
just about anything else you'd expect to see on a marquee on 42nd
street.
Overall I would definitely recommend that you pick this one up,
especially if you are already a fan of the series. It'll fit in nicely
with the first two volumes as well as the XXX-edition that Synapse
released prior to this one or if you just want to find out what all the
fuss is about when it comes to these compilations it's worth a buy.
But be warned, you might find yourself attempting to find a lot of
these hard to find titles if you haven't already seen them! Pick this
one up today!
