A great female warrior struggles
to find an acceptable man to mate with in what is billed as the female
Conan movie. The movie opens in an idyllic village full of women.
A convenient voice over lets the viewer know that women rule the village
and that men simply arenít allowed. Of course the women need
men to ďplant the seedĒ so they leave the village when they are
fertile to mate with men. Any boy children are given away to keep
the purity of the village intact. Well things seem to be going
very well for the village until men show up and kill all the women except
Hundra who was on a hunting trip. Huntra then goes to see the
last elder who explains to her that she needs to find men to mate with
so that she can insure that the survival of the tribe. So off
she goes to the lands of men to find a mate that she can have children
with. Well actually she has to fight a savage midget first.
Eventually she ends up in a male dominated city learning how to be a
proper submissive woman in the temple of the bull. Of course she
ends up teaching the women of that society that they donít have to
be submissive to the men and starts a revolution.
Where to start? Well
to begin with the cast in this movie is one of the worst that Iíve
ever seen. The acting is just awful. Of course the lousy
script doesnít help the acting. They have attempted to stretch
what is really a flimsy plot over a 90-minute runtime. The movie
is fairly pointless and repetitive. But of course who expects
a sword and sorcery movie to have good acting or a decent plot?
All we the viewer expect from a movie like this are exciting fight scenes.
Even here the movie fails. I will give credit and say that a few
of the fights are effective and even exciting. Of course most
of them are actually quite poorly done and awkward. Even when
the movie attempts to be an exploitation movie it fails miserably.
There is very little nudity and hardly any sexual situations.
When they do try it is just as awkward and ineffectual as the fight
scenes. As a sword and sorcery movie Hundra fails. As an
exploitation movie Hundra fails. Hell as a cheesy good time I
can think of many other movies to waste 90 minutes with.
Other than a cowardly dog that finds itís courage and a great death
scene (lets say the bad guy in done in by the very womanhood that he
was exploiting!) there isnít much to recommend this movie.
