Sean Patrick Flanery (“The Boondock Saints”) stars as Harry Balbo, a quirky and anxious salesman whose life spins out of control after witnessing a brutal vampire kill a homeless man. Right away he calls the cops and tells them what happens but Det. Loper doesn’t take Harry all too serious. In fact he thinks Harry is a certified wacko. Soon Harry does his own investigation and with strange methods he catches her capturing more prey. He even gets his face scratched in his second run in with the irresistible Tatianna(Charlotte Ayanna). She is a vampire that needs up to 6 lovers and although she gives them what they desire she still drains them all of their blood.

From here gets led on by another female only to feel more stupid than his bullying co-worker Javier already makes him feel on a daily basis. Other than the daily ball busting and disappointments, Harry now does his research online on a site called Target Vampire. He begins talking to the site administrator about his run ins with a vampire and conveniently he ends up meeting this man coincidently in the same apartment building! The vampire expert is a wheelchair bound vampire expert that is strapped, paranoid and is the only person that takes Harry seriously. Michael Biehn (“The Terminator” and “Grindhouse”) shows up for a few scenes as the parapalegic expert of Blood Suckers.

Soon the two buddy up and Harry eventually captures Tatianna. From here Harry becomes a servant for the persuasive vamp. She’s starving to death and she needs much more than rabbits or kitty cats to survive. While most of the characters are clichés and it seemed weird for Sean Patrick Flannery playing a quirky and timid character I still enjoyed all the performances. The story was different from most vampire films I have seen and I feel that this film could satisfy softies looking for something more cute than horrifying. I also think that die hards might enjoy this because it was a vampire film set in present day that wasn’t the typical “hip” vampire movie. Charlotte Ayanna also starred in another recent vampire film lately called “The Thirst”. The film was horrifyingly terrible and was filled with MTV editing and a crew of method acting vampires. While her acting isn’t pitch perfect she was believable as a seductress. I liked that her and Harry formed a relationship with constant negotiating when it came to her food supply.

The film begins like a comedy with upbeat music and title credits that were both about as morbid as cotton candy. While having slight moments of gore I still was interested in this charming vampire tale. Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman did a decent job directing the story but I have to wonder why they use CGI for one second in this scene. There is a CGI door thrown by a strong female vamp but no big deal. This is very light material so I don’t feel the need to take everything serious. I was entertained but believe me don’t take this all too seriously. The movie was slow at times but the story had a good flow to it. I don’t necessarily think any time needed to be trimmed in the 103 minutes. All the right information was on screen and the details kept me interested.

Tune in for and see a gorgeous vamp locked in a Harry Balbo’s manually made cage trap, the hilarity of the asshole co-worker Javier (you’ll pray for his death!) and just an all out fun character to watch with Harry. Sean Patrick Flannery might not be proud of this role but I got a kick out of his dilemma and his characters eccentricities.

Besides plot holes and one brief and disappointing moment of CGI this film was a fun vampire flick that I recommend watching at least once. If brutal horror is your thing I wouldn’t bite into this one. Otherwise just have a fun time with this obvious B-Movie. Ignore the soundtrack and the weak score and you got a winner! It’s a sexually tamed vamp film that has moments of humor and because of Sean Patrick Flannery’s character is an experience I will sit through again.
