For the best of the Horror/Cult/Exploitation film experience
Party Like Hell (2006)
Here we have another horror comedy from
our friends over at DSK Production. You might recognize them from
movies like "Toxic Shock Zombies" or "Retards Shouldn't Run With
Chainsaws". This time we have the story of Luke, who wakes up
Christmas morning to find a book that his mom got him for a present.
After reading some of the book it starts to have a strange effect on
Luke ultimately turning him into a demon. Unfortunately for those
around him, but in order to continue living he must sacrifice people
and decides that the people who have fucked him over before would be
the perfect targets. So he cooks up the plan to invite them all to a
party at his house where he will have everything he needs to "Party
Like Hell"....sorry, I couldn't resist it.
After watching a few movies from DSK Productions I've come to know
what to expect from their movies. Most of the time you'll get some
good characters, funny dialog, a few special effects all wrapped up in
a neat micro budget package. This time around it's more of the same,
although I would have to say that this one isn't as good as some of the
other films I've seen. It does have moments where I really enjoyed it,
but there really needed to be a little bit more to the story. The
characters were all pretty funny and entertaining and it's easy to see
that's the point they were trying to make here. Unlike many low budget
companies out there DSK uses a lot of the same people in each of their
movies, but they really are more competent than most actors that I see
on this micro budget level.
The story here is what's mainly lackluster although there are some
cheesy good effects in the movie that make it worth checking out. Even
though the story is lackluster it's not really long enough to be that
big of a deal. In the end I was glad I had the chance to check it out
because I've always enjoyed the stuff I've seen from them.
Bottom line is when it comes to DSK productions if you've seen
their movies and you've enjoyed them, then try this one on for size.
But if you've never watched one of their movies before I would have to
say that there are others out there that you'd be better of watching
before this one.
