This interesting short film
tells the story of a young man who is picked on for lurking around and
taking pictures of a pretty girl. While she is kind to him and
tells her boyfriend to leave him alone it doesn’t help the situation.
Eventually the girl’s boyfriend finds him talking to her again, and
as soon as she is out of sight he beats the hell out of him. When
the boy gets home his father sees what has happened and decides enough
is enough. Here is where things get interesting because the boy’s
father also happens to be a cold-blooded serial killer. So his
solution is to kill the bully, his parents, and whoever else happens
to be around.
Since I’ve started reviewing
movies for the site I’ve had to sit through way too many lousy lower
budget movies. But it is worth sitting through all of those bad
movies to find something like A Thousand Words: Bloodline. I really
enjoyed the story and found it to be engaging and entertaining.
Not only do they develop the conflict between the bully and the son,
but also the story explains why the father reacts the way that he does.
Honestly the most sympathetic characters in the movie are the killer
and his son. Another thing that really impressed me is how well
the cast does. I’m fairly certain that the cast isn’t made
up of professional actors, but they still do a really fine job in the
movie.
The special effects in the
movie are very limited with most of the action happening off frame.
But again this is a very low budget film and as I’ve said before I
would rather not see a poorly executed effect shot. I would also
like to point out how shocked I was with how well the movie was light
and shot. The film looks great and sounds great as well.
That tells me that the there are some really talented filmmakers behind
this project.
This is an excellent short
film (30 minutes) shot with amateur actors and for very little money.
I highly recommend that every check this one out and can’t wait for
their next project.
